Editor's Note:
This tenth issue of Gallerie, was meant to be celebratory–surviving
five years of grit to sustain its uncompromising editorial
and production values. Post 9/11 and the genocide in Gujarat,
there was no reason to celebrate. Like a switch turned off,
thousands died. Ground Zero in New York. Ground Zero in Gujarat.
Both were as clinically planned and chillingly executed. An
infrastructure of terror. An erasure of humanty. Not that
we are inexperienced in terror. Civilisation has been punctuated
with the most vicious of violence and injustice unleased by
connivers and speculators who feed on conflict. And the world
knows that the recent genocide in Gujarat was orchestrated
with state complicity. Today, they are dancing on the dead,
but the flames of xenophobia fanned so zealously will soon
torch their own conspiracies. One day. Not by a mystical act of Karma but simply by the tyranny of truth.
