Embedded in the mountains of the Karakoram in the north-west, the
Himalaya in the south-west, and the Trans-Himalaya at its core,
is a jewel called Ladakh. Stark and monochromatic in its austere
beauty, it is home to nomadic shepherds, small traders and weavers.
In fact, weaving is so intrinsic to their lives, it is said that
warp and weft is always there in the relationship of husband and
wife, mother and child, and among extended family or loved ones.
It is warp and weft the Ladakhi believes, that threads the fabric
of life, the great connector that links the past to the present
and future.
