Women's Voices from Kashmir, Pakistan:

by Asma Khan Lone

The present situation is terrible. People are deprived of their inherent, pledged and recognized right of self-determination and subjected to inhuman mental and physical tortures. Soft borders between India and Pakistan occupied parts of Kashmir will naturally change the LoC into a permanent India-Pakistan border, which no patriot Kashmiri will accept. To me the best solution of the Kashmir issue is to re-unite the divided Jammu & Kashmir State, make it a fully independent country having a democratic and secular system of government and friendly relations with both India and Pakistan. This safeguards the national interests of all the three parties to the issue and ensures not only permanent peace in South Asia but also prosperous future for 1200 million people of the region.
