We women, writing in the regional languages in India , have dealt with life on our own terms, in our own different ways, but much as we have wanted to make writing the centre of our existence, I am afraid most of us have not quite managed to achieve that goal. Life rushes in and occupies the central position, pushing art away towards the margin. Nevertheless, we are writing life as we witness it, transcribing experience into words. Let us hope we have managed to make the task a little lighter for the women writers of tomorrow the way our mothers did it for us. There are still many practical questions that eat into our hearts; maybe, we can resolve a few through our writing without getting trapped in intricate jargon.
