Thoughts on the concept of the bhoomi in tandem with cinema involve two areas of thinking and practice. The first is the concept of the physical space, land or the Earth itself, already turned into metaphor within the realm of literature and art. The second involves a piece of a three-dimensional imaginary space perceived in a film image — actual space turned to representation. Physical space in this second instance is linked to the formal aspect of cinema.
