A decade ago, art shows by debutants or struggling newcomers in formal gallery spaces were unknown in Tehran, as hosting unknowns or showcasing the avant-garde was frowned upon. Persistent young artists evolved ways of showcasing their work and their immediate concerns, and Parkinggallery and its corresponding portal are a result.
