One of the highest forms of art in the Islamic countries is that of calligraphy. In Iran, there has been a resurgence of interest for using the traditional forms in a contemporary context. The new vocabulary borrows from its rich inheritance of centuries-old styles, and reinvents a language with startlingly graphic interpretations.
