Pari Saberi, director of over 70 plays, has taken on a wide wingspan of subjects — from the lyrical poetry of Forough Farrokhzad, to Sophocles’ Antigone to love stories from the Quran — and experimented with a range of treatments, incorporating live Iranian music, Ta’zia, the traditional religious theatre of Iran, and Sufi dance. Her performances have won awards at internationally acclaimed theatre festivals.
