" All countries need their Myth- Makers," said Anders Clason, Cultural Counsellor of the Swedish Embassy and how simply the Larssons provided a legend for the Swedish people- by just being themselves, by making good works of art in their domestic utopia. Blending Swedish folk elements with influences from the English Arts and Crafts Movement, Art Nouveau and Japonisme, they developed a distinct style of simplicity and charm, using colours that radiated warmth and well-being.

While Carl and Karin were icons, their style established a paradigm for Swedish design, capturing the imagination of designers and architects worldwide. The Victoria & Albert Museum, London, recently held a retrospective of their work- the first major exhibition ever held outside Sweden.
