Dan Eldon, modern-day Buddha, brave young, photo-journalist. His
journey through life has been brief but full of urgency and passion-seeking,
sometimes knowing and always questioning the riddle of life, the
dichotomy of good and evil, the sickness of our modern world, the
fragility of the human condition, the joy of living, the meaning
of death, the quest for truth.
His compassion and respect for humanity came from this pursuit.
Dan Eldon lived more in twenty-two years than most do in eighty. He
traveled through four continents, led expeditions across Africa,
wrote a book, worked as a graphic designer in New York, made a film,
and was a respected photo-journalist for Reuters, helping trigger
an outpouring of international aid with his powerful and disturbing
images of Somalia's brutal famine-all before his sudden, violent
death in Somalia. This, is a tribute to Dan. To a spirit invincible.
