| The city of London has the Thames; Kazakhstan is also built on a river bank. The similarity may end there, considering the preconceived notions Britons have of the Central Asians and vice versa. But a four-year-long art exchange, the UK+CA/Central Asian project, between the two countries yielded a wealth of mutual understanding, much memorable art and long train journeys filled with conversation and camaraderie, writes Yuliya Sorokina, curator of the collaborative effort. |
