OFF THE ROAD: Inspired by Jack Kerouac’s novel ‘On the Road’ by Jason Shelley I first met Dean from Denmark in Ireland. Two days in Dublin an Australian girl introduced us. I met him not long after my girlfriend and I had split up. I had just gotten over a serious illness that I won’t bother to talk about, except that it had something to do with the miserably weary split-up and my feeling everything was dead. I was not dead, of course, but I was seriously sad. I always dreamed of travelling west to Ireland and then to wherever. I couldn’t believe my luck when I stepped off the aeroplane. I saw Sajani for the first time and Lil. Both on the road. My rucksack by my side and my tent and sleeping bag squashed in we took our first steps in the country together
