The tenth year of Gallerie and this, its twentieth anniversary issue calls for resounding cheer. When we launched Gallerie’s inaugural issue in 1997, a pioneering effort in India, the response was overwhelmingly joyous –– from readers, the press and well-wishers who unanimously welcomed a maverick, unslottable journal that had crossed prescribed boundaries to map its own trail.
In this volume, Gallerie continues to cross frontiers and blur boundaries –– territorial, cultural, political, religious and metaphorical –– to address issues that are universal and pertinent to each one of us; to encourage awareness and understanding of diverse cultures; to bring down walls where they exist.
