There is good news and bad news, even about violence.
Violence, wilfully hurting, harming others, is often seen as similar
to the drives of food and sex. Wrong. Appetites can certainly be
whetted. But these drives in human nature known as basic needs,
which when unfulfilled, can drive us up the wall; and yes, make
us commit violence.
Yes, they are linked to our inner clocks. But, there is no clock
ticking violence cycles inside us. Indeed, we do not have violence
like an albatross around the neck. The capacity to hurt and harm
others,
particularly amongst the male of the human species, exists simultaneously
with the capacity to love and build constructive relationships.
Other than pathological cases, external triggers often induce violence.
What are these external triggers?
The bad news is that there are many.
