In an exclusive American engagement, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in association with Hermes brought Zingaro once again to Battery Park City, New York, this autumn. The Paris-based company and most sought-after ticket in Europe played Eclipse and the audience witnessed an indescribable alchemy of theatre, dance, magic and equestrian opera, conjured by Artistic Director, Bartabas. Eclipse was inspired by Pansori, an ancient Korean tradition of musical storytelling, melodious and sad, and noted for vocalists who endure a long, difficult training to achieve the range and stamina necessary.

Here is a glimpse of Eclipse, an unforgettable journey experienced by the writer in Paris, into a mystery of black and white, of light and shadow. Transcending colour, race and cultural divides. Into the visionary realm of the charismatic Bartabas.
