REALITY. LARGER THAN LIFE
By Fintan Magee

“The story of immigration for my family in the last generations has been global and complex. I realise how much it all ties in with the legacy of colonialisation, and both the negative and positive impacts of the British Empire in the world has played a role in my family history. My father, born in Ireland, grew up a Catholic during the peak of the ‘The Troubles’ conflict in Northern Ireland. He moved to London after High School to study art and to escape the grim environment and political situation in Derry. My mother was born in England to an Australian father and English mother. Her father [my grandfather] had been born in Australia.
