10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER VISIT MOLENBEEK.
Stephanie Benoit

Once a tranquil rural region, Molenbeek [from the Dutck Molen/Mill and Beek/Brook], in Belgium, evolved into an industrial and mercantile centre at the end of the 18th Century. After the Great Depression [1929-1939], Molenbeek witnessed a decline. Gradually, by the 21st century, it became a destination for migrants. However, Molenbeek, for a relatively small neighbourhood, has spawned a large number of creative people –– artists, writers, poets, musicians, actors and academics. Stephanie Benoit takes us on a delightfully whimsical tour of the “notorious” neighbourhood.
