Insular by geographic location, Sindh in Pakistan is a region that
shares its history of one of the greatest ancient civilisations
the Indus Valley with India. To understand its history
is to recognise the fact that it took an imperialist machination,
the British Colony, to cleave A land that for centuries had co-existed
in peace. Divide and rule.
The old formula still works. Fifty-three years hence, we are still
quibbling and warring. Yet in Sindh, despite the scars of 20th century
turmoils, a heritage of tolerance still ensures a humane coexistence
among the hindu and muslim communities.
